Hilde Louise Asbjørnsen
Hilde Louise is often compared to the likes of jazz legends Edith Piaf and Billie Holiday.
Jazz vocalist, songwriter, cabaret and musicals artist – Hilde Louise Asbjørnsen is a musical multitalent – who has just released her eleventh album: Red Lips, Knuckles and Bones.
Four years after her previous album, Don’t Stay for Breakfast, Asbjørnsen explores a new landscape, with lyrics inspired by the times we live in. Women’s revolt, refugees, and the loss of her friend the artist Pushwagner are among the themes all set to groovy, melodious jazz. Among the albums’ personal songs is “Make some shine”, which Asbjørnsen is “a battle song for those of us who feel we have chosen a narrow path, and need a kick up the backside to keep going.”
The musical inspirations for the album come from 1960s grooves such as those of Duke Pearson and Lee Morgan, touching on rhythm & blues and of course New Orleans. As well as her club concert, Hilde Louise will be holding a jam session on the same evening – which means two concerts on one night!
