Phil Minton & Veryan Weston
Pianist Veryan Weston and vocalist Phil Minton belong to the elite of European improvisational musicians.

Pianist Veryan Weston and vocalist Phil Minton belong to the elite of European improvisational musicians. Now they are coming to the Kongsberg Jazz Festival.
Phil Minton is a true veteran of international improv vocals and he has collaborated with an impressive range of significant musicians. His vocal artistry is about as far from conventional jazz singing as it is possible to get; but it is nevertheless attractive and meaningful, and it can be a true mixture of wild humor and serious seriousness. He exploits all the possibilities the human voice offers.
Phil Minton has for many years had a close collaboration with the pianist Veryan Weston. The musician Weston is curious about all kinds of artistic expression, so he can collaborate both with visual artists and musicians in many different genres. His sense of both modern composition and simultaneous improvisation are marked elements in the collaboration with Phil Minton. A couple of record titles may hint a little about what we will experience in Smeltehytta at this year's festival: "Songs From A Prison Diary" and "Mouthfull of Ecstasy".
