Pictures and reviews:

Volda Ukulele and Fjellvandrar-Klubb (VUFK) is a group of friends who studied music in Volda about 10 years ago. The band is based in Oslo where everyone works as music teachers on the side. VUFK moves within jazz, blues and popular music, and consists of vocalist Ingvild Elgtvedt (soprano ukulele), Tor Sivert Gunnes (tenor ukulele), Ingrid Hesjadalen (guitar), Miriam Ekvik (guitar) and Thomas Vrålstad (bass ukulele).

The trio Five Dragons met at jazzlinja in Stavanger, autumn 2016. Since then they have played concerts around Eastern Norway, including in Oslo and Fredrikstad, and at the jazz club Spor 5 in Stavanger, always to a good response and good contact with the audience. The line-up of vocals, double bass and drums provides room for an open soundscape that the trio knows how to explore. Lyrical melodies, good bass lines and driving riffs are mixed with lyrics about both the funny and the things that touch us, which together become the music of Fem Drager. In this way, the music becomes rich and exciting, without becoming inaccessible. Both regular concert-goers and those deeply interested in music will enjoy the concerts that have provoked laughter, tears, head bobbing and rocking feet, with a trio that plays unceremonious quality jazz.

Kongsberg Big Band – The band, which has previously had so many up-and-coming talented jazz musicians in its ranks, has again brought with it a group of exciting young talents. Jarle Storløkken has arranged well-known songs by Steely Dan, John Scofield and Prince. Together with some songs created by the band's own young talents, this forms concerts with a large range and room for many soloist elements. Jarle Storløkken and Jon Gunnar Tovsrud have collaborated to get the band in top shape and will lead it during the festival.

Band workshop lasts all day and ends with a concert in Festivalgata.
Kongsberg is known for cultivating many talented musicians, and we believe that the jazz festival and the workshop are an important reason for this. At the workshop, the emphasis is on working by ear and the instructors will give the participants lessons in improvisation. Photo: Odd Eirik Skjolde

Way Down The Rainbow was created at Kongsberg music line in 2016. Based on psychedelic rock, grunge and rock ballads, they do their own thing based on how they feel and feel - with the aim of spreading joy around them!
