In English:
The bass player, vocalist, composer and bandleader, Ellen Andrea Wang was given the DNB and Kongsberg Jazzfestival big music award in 2015, on 300 000 NOK. She now returns with a brand new musical project and to perform her “thanks for the award”-concert. The concert has been given the title “Songs From Land”.
During relatively few years, Ellen Andrea Wang has established herself in the Norwegian Jazz elite. She is brilliant both as a bassist, vocalist and songwriter. We know her first and foremost from bands like Dag Arnesen trio, Pixel and her own trio, but she’s also touring on a general basis with the drum legend Manu Katché. In April she’s going to perform together with Sting when Katché is inviting to a show in Paris to celebrate the release of his new album.
Ellen Andrea Wang is not afraid to mix elements of pop into her jazz sound, and the result has a wide appeal. She creates a sympathetic mix of playful jazz and melodic pop, where lyrical and rough parts and acoustic and electronic elements are being fused together into a well-sounding totality.
