Tribute to Joni Mitchell

The vocalist and songwriter Joni Mitchell is not a jazz artist, but it is striking how many jazz vocalists cite her as an important source of inspiration. Now the distance from Joni Mitchell to jazz is not that great either, and she collaborated with several famous jazz musicians - such as Charles Mingus and Pat Metheny. So it is really only natural that a group of young Norwegian jazz musicians join in paying tribute to Joni Mitchell.

It was the Oslo Jazz Festival that got this good idea, and with the pianist Anja Lauvdal as musical director, there was a magnificent festival opening in Oslo last summer. Now the entire project is moving to Kongsberg. Joni Mitchell has written a number of exceptionally beautiful songs, and with vocalists such as Susanna Wallumrød, Frida Ånnevik, Rohey Taalah and Sondre Lerche mustn't it will be good! The drummer Hans Hulbækmo also appears here. He is probably one of the most sought-after drummers in Norway. Anyone who has heard him will understand why! And then it must be mentioned that our new saxophone star, Hanna Paulsberg, also puts her stamp of quality on the concert.
