PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Tickets can be bought at www.ticketmaster.no or by phone 815 33 133, or by using our festival app. During the festival tickets will also be on sale at our ticket sales points on Kirketorget (18:00-23:00) and on the main “festival street” outside Quality Hotel Grand (10:00-22:00).
If tickets are not sold out in advance, it will be possible to purchase tickets for each individual event at the venue just prior to the event.
The festival events take place at different venues around Kongsberg and our age restrictions vary from venue to venue. This is because of laws regarding the sale of alcohol.
There is a lower age limit of 18 for the following venues:
- Festivalgata (no age restrictions until 20:00)
- Jazzboksen (no age restrictions until 20:00)
- Energimølla (night-time concerts). For concerts that start earlier than 21:00 we operate a guardianship scheme (form here)
There is a lower age limit of 20 for the following venues:
- Gamle Norge
- Privat (no age restrictions for the daytime concerts)
- Christians Kjeller (no age restrictions for the daytime "poetry oasis")
Kirketorget
The audience area on Kirketorget is split into two: one alcohol-free area where under-18s can see the concerts, and the main area, which is for over-18s only. We ask parents/guardians to collect concert-goers under 18 years of age at the exit after the concert.
For other venues/concerts not listed above, there is no lower age limit.
Children
You are welcome to bring your child with you to a concert if the artist, venue and music are “child-friendly”. Please contact us if you have any questions about this. For concerts with no age restrictions (except Barnivalen) and free seating, children under 12 may attend free of charge as long as there is available space. For concerts with reserved seating, you must buy a ticket for your child (or the child must sit on your lap).
Barnivalen: Children under 2 have free entry to Barnivalen. Adults may only attend Barnivalen if they are accompanying a child.
We recommend using public transport to Kongsberg as there are limited parking facilities in the city.
Extra night buses (nattbuss) between Kongsberg and Drammen will be put on for Saturday 9 July and Sunday 10 July - tickets for these can be purchased via ticketmaster.no.
Train travel: For information on transport times and buying tickets, see vy.no.
Regional bus (Nettbuss): Runs between Kongsberg and Oslo or Notodden. Timetables and tickets at www.nettbuss.no.
Local buses (Brakar): There will be special festival buses. See www.brakar.no for information.

PARKING IN KONGSBERG
It’s always difficult to find parking spaces in Kongsberg during the festival; therefore we recommend the use of public transport. However, if you have to drive a car, here is a list of parking areas:

Kirketorget (the church square) is the festival’s venue for three large popular concert events in 2018.
Age restrictions
We have a lower age limit of 18 for our concerts on Kirketorget, and this year we have no guardianship scheme. There will be a special alcohol-free area for young people between 13 and 18 – this area will be physically separated from the main arena and is called TechnipFMC TeenGig. Tickets for this area are sold separately from the main arena tickets.
Wheelchair users
There will be a special space in the middle of the arena for wheelchair users with access to a bar and suitable toilet facilities. There are no seating facilities.
Entrance
Entrance to Kirketorget is via Stukenbrocks gate.
Accredited guests and those working for the festival must use the entrance near to Dolly Dimples/Big Horn
Food and drink
There will be a wide range of food and drink on sale in the arena.
Forbidden items
It is forbidden to take the following into the concert area:
- All forms of drink and bottles
- Food
- Umbrella
- Camping chairs/stools
- All weapons including knives and batons; other objects that can cause injury
- SLR cameras or video cameras
- Flammable materials
- Banners and posters
- Animals (except for working guide dogs or service dogs)
Kongsberg Jazz Festival is committed to being inclusive and offering access for everyone. However, since some of the festival venues are old buildings, there are some challenges and limitations.
Below you will find a list of the concert venues and their level of accessibility. Some concerts are seated and some are not.
Kongsberg Musikkteater and Sølvsalen have seated concerts, except Snarky Puppy which is standing only. Kongsberg Kirke, Smeltehytta, Jazzboksen and Festivalgata are also seated - or seats are available. Christians Kjeller and Energimølla (except the late night concerts) offers both seating and standing. Gamle Norge and Kirketorget have standing concerts.
Accompanying carers (ledsagere)
Kongsberg Jazz Festival accepts proof of eligibility for accompanying carers at all concerts. In 2022 all people in wheelchairs and accompanying carers will have to order tickets via Ticketmaster The ticket for accompanying carers is free of charge.
Concert venues:
Christians Kjeller: Step-free access. Good access for wheelchair users in the yard. Unfortunately no Accessble restroom facilities
Energimølla: Ground floor is accessible for wheelchair users. Accessble restroom facilities available.
Kirketorget: Good access and easy to get around inside the arena. Dedicated area for wheelchair users with good view and accessble restrooms nearby.
Kongsberg Church: Access via ramp at the south entrance of the church. Restrooms only accessible via main entrance. No steps, but narrow access. No accessble restrooms .
Smeltehytta: Wheelchair access. Accessble restroom facilities available.
Quality Hotel Grand – Argus: Access via main entrance. Lift to cloakroom and toilets. Accessble restroom facilities in the basement with lift access.
“Festival street”/ “Jazz street”: No steps. Easy access for disabled people. Accessble restroom facilities available in the hotel basement, access via elevator.
Kongsberg Music Theatre (Kongsberg Musikkteater): Seating and lift for wheelchair users. No steps. The building has orientation points/guide paths. Audio loop available. Please contact the employees in the entrance hall for help. Accessble restrooms available.
Sølvsalen: Seating for disabled audience members. Accessble restroom facilities available.
Gamle Norge: The outside area is easily accessible for wheelchair users. Accessble restrooms inside.
Jazzboksen: Good access to the concert venue via ramp. Accessble restroom facilities available via ramp.
Barnival park: Ramps from the pavement and into the festival area, and to the tents. Accessble restroom facilities available. Please contact the festival office if you have questions.

Collaboration with Kongsberg Gruppen
Many musicians, especially younger performers, are feeling unsure about the implications of playing at Kongsberg Jazz Festival. This is primarily because of concerns related to the festival’s collaboration with Kongsberg Gruppen. A socially engaged group from the “Motvind” festival is working towards a more sustainable and ethically oriented cultural scene. One of their areas of focus is Kongsberg Jazz Festival and Kongsberg Gruppen’s sponsor relationship. Kongsberg Gruppen is one of Norway’s leading technology enterprises.

Barnivalen
Barnivalen is a festival created with and for children and youth. This year an array og well know artists are visiting the festival. Among others, Shana and Anders, who you’d probably recognize from childrens television, and Selda Ekiz who will appear with her thrilling science show. There will be flames, explosions, water and smoke! We will et a visit from Rasmus og Verdens Beste Band, who won this years Spellemannspris for “Banjo på Badet”. We are also very pleased to announce that Brageteatret will be visiting us with two different plays this year. In addition to all this, as allways, there will loads of fun activities. We are absolutely convinced everyone will find something they’ll enjoy!
