Hello Kongsberg Music Theatre!
Kongsberg Jazzfestival is a festival organized in and by Kongsberg. In this mini-series, we want to promote the venues and show who they are during and outside the festival season. Say hello to Kongsberg Musikkteater, we had a chat with the technical coordinator, Per Gustavsen
WHO IS KONGSBERG MUSICAL THEATER?
Kongsberg Musikkteater is the city's new cultural center and has in a short time established itself as one of the most exciting and modern cultural arenas in Eastern Norway.
Kongsberg Music Theater aims to be an attractive and vibrant arena for activities and events initiated by local cultural and social life and a good arena for productions and experiences at national and international level. The music theater consists of two well-equipped halls, the Music Theater and the Silver Hall. The music theater is one of the country's best concert and theater stages, and is one of the few worldwide with the Meyersound Constellation electronic acoustic system.
It is bustling with local cultural life. In addition to local performances with choirs, bands, theater and other cultural events, the Kulturskolen and Kongsberg Guttemusikk regularly practice with us. Kongsberg Music Theater is the artificial turf of local cultural life!

WHAT IS YOUR FOCUS AT THE MOMENT, DO WE HAVE ANYTHING NEW TO LOOK FORWARD TO?
Kongsberg Musikkteater is the city's new main hall and has a wide range of cultural offerings throughout the year. Our focus is local culture in coexistence with performances at national and international level, so that we get a broad and good offer for the public. Kongsberg Music Theater is local culture's artificial grass. We look forward to keeping the mat well trimmed.

WHAT IS KONGSBERG MUSIC THEATER'S BEST MEMORY?
With so many events behind us, it is almost unfair to single out a single memory.
We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved in such a short time - and the memories of all the local cultural events are very warm. We have particularly good memories from all concerts and performances where the children are at the center - both the large gatherings such as UKM or Studio 3's Christmas show, and the smaller settings with theatre, choirs, bands and smaller ensembles. It does a lot of good to see the joy children radiate when they unfold together. It provides memories that last a lifetime.
There are also good memories to take with you to see how the Association of Friends of Kongsberg Music Theater gets involved. They stand by and work for free all year round. When at the same time you hear from several people that being part of the Venneforeningen gives them an increased quality of life, yes, then the lump in the throat comes. Such memories are strong.

WHAT DOES KONGSBERG JAZZ MEAN TO YOU?
Kongsberg Jazzfestival is an important partner for Kongsberg Musikkteater. Our audience gets the opportunity to experience top-shelf Norwegian and international jazz artists, and thus fits perfectly into our vision of offering "Magical cultural experiences"

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO DURING THIS YEAR'S FESTIVAL?
'SING THE TRUTH!' with Cecile McLorin Salvant, Lizz Wright and Angelique Kidjo will be one of the absolute highlights of the year - whatever the stage. Have heard all three separately before. It will be magical to experience them in the Musikkteateret on Saturday evening!

WHO IN KONGSBERG TOWN DESERVES A PATCH ON THE BACK?
Lågen Arbeidsdjenester with Gry Christensen and the rest of the team. The shows they have had in the Musikkteateret have given us the most magical cultural experiences imaginable. It's just a matter of "bowing your hat" to what they achieve. I go blank every time I think about them. For me they are big stars!
