Hello Christian Kjeller!
Kongsberg Jazzfestival is a festival organized in and by Kongsberg. In this mini-series, we want to promote the venues and show who they are during and outside the festival season. Say hello to Christian Kjeller, we had a chat with the general manager, Wenche Berntsen
WHO IS CHRISTIAN KJELLER?
Christian Kjeller is part of Opsahlgården, which is located in Kirkegata on the West side and is one of the city's oldest preserved houses. Upon takeover, the farm was thoroughly restored and opened as a restaurant in 2001.
We have a burning interest in short-travel food and drink - and especially the art of combining these. In addition to the restaurant, we run our very own microbrewery, which was started in 2014, Kongsberg Bryggeri. So, with us you will find a gastro/music pub in the basement where concerts are organized through the Kongsberg Blue Club, good food on the first floor and a brewery pub in our backyard - which is probably Konsberg's nicest backyard.

WHAT IS YOUR FOCUS AT THE MOMENT, DO WE HAVE ANYTHING NEW TO LOOK FORWARD TO?
As previously mentioned, we operate our very own brewery, Kongsberg Bryggeri. The microbrewery was started in 2014, and has supplied beer to Kongsberg's population and surroundings, in addition to having delivered to a number of renowned beer pubs around Norway and among Norwegian groceries.
In 2019 we have a goal to expand the operation of the brewery, we want to become even bigger and offer a more extensive distribution of our self-produced beer.

WHAT IS CHRISTIAN KJELLER'S BEST MEMORY?
Several good memories are worth going forward after operating for almost 20 years, but the concert by Marie Bergmann during Kongsbergjazz in 2017 is certainly worth mentioning.
WHAT DOES KONGSBERG JAZZ MEAN TO YOU?
Kongsberg Jazzfestival means an incredible amount to us as a catering venue. This is what you live for the rest of the summer, with a bustling public life and happy people.

WHO IN KONGSBERG TOWN DESERVES A PATCH ON THE BACK?
I would like to single out Vidar Lande, who worked hard to realize Krona - together with all the other zealots who have contributed on the way to the finish line. Together, they have managed to create a fantastic addition to the city, in my eyes. We are incredibly happy with our new neighbour, it is important to have a great hall for culture as the Musikkteatret has become.
