Free, Fresh and Free 3
Too many are 'Avanthagen' in Smeltehytta on Saturday afternoon, the highlight of the Kongsberg Jazz Festival. Here you can hear the surprising constellations, artists who can rarely be heard on other Norwegian stages and musicians who have a foothold in anything but the mainstream. This year Kongsberg Jazz Festival is collaborating with newMusic – which is an interest organization for contemporary music. It has gradually become common to present three sequences in Avanthagen, and this will be the case this year as well. From France comes the fascinating and charismatic voice artist Isabelle Duthoit. Here, it is not far from gentle breathing to tearing primal screams. In the next sequence, we hear four string players: Tanja Orning, Ilan Volkov, John Andrew Wilhite og Michael Duch. The festival's stated aim is to create 'magical moments'. There are bound to be some such moments here! In the last sequence, we meet two artists we know well from previous concerts at Kongsberg: Stemmekunstnerne Sofia Jernberg og Agnes Hvizdalek. It will surprise me (and many others!) a lot if these two don't create magic too!
