Per Zanussi received the festival's major musician prize, the DNB prize in 2023, and is coming to Kongsberg this year with several new projects, including the brand new quartet Zanussi 4.
Per Zanussi has previously collaborated with everyone in other contexts, but now they join forces for the first time as a band during the Kongsberg Jazz Festival.
The quartet interprets Zanussi's open and melodic compositions, and the result is energetic jazz of the freer variety, where improvisation and spontaneity take center stage. The musicians' unique voices are allowed to unfold, framed by Zanussi's diverse tunes.
Saxophonists Fredrik Ljungkvist and Lotte Anker are two of Scandinavia's strongest voices on their instruments, and in the meeting with the creative rhythm section Per Zanussi and Hans Hulbækmo, the result is a strong and unpredictable journey.
