Wesseltoft-Andersen-Nilssen Trio
Three personalities, three eras – one common pulse.

The new super trio!
Bugge Wesseltoft, Arild Andersen og Gard Nilssen. Take a taste of those names. It's hard to get closer to a supergroup – both here in Norway and far beyond our own borders.
Keyboardist Wesseltoft (61), bass maestro Andersen (80) and the great younger drummer Nilssen (43) are representatives of three generations of Norwegian jazz musicians who all belong right up there in the international elite class.
When they now meet, three of the country's most distinctive jazz voices come together – united by curiosity, generosity and a common language that extends far beyond generational boundaries.
The repertoire draws on threads from AM ARE (2025), ARV (1993) and SAGN (1991) – and becomes a new musical landscape where improvisation can breathe freely. Together they create an expression where sound, space and rhythm merge into a whole that can only arise in the meeting of three artists with deep roots in improvisation. Every note is the result of mutual trust.
Bugge Wesseltoft has been a guiding star in the development of modern, electronically colored jazz since his breakthrough in the 90s. With projects like New Conception of Jazz and solo albums like AM ARE (2025), he unites lyrical piano playing with sonic exploration and rhythmic finesse – where silence and groove can exist side by side.
Arild Andersen is one of Norwegian jazz's most respected and generous musicians, with a career that extends from the Jan Garbarek Quartet and Masqualero to his own award-winning projects on ECM. He is known for his melodic bass playing, and albums such as SAGN (1991) and ARV (1993) stand as milestones in Norwegian jazz history.
Gard Nilssen has in recent years established himself as one of Europe's most sought-after drummers. He leads, among others, Supersonic Orchestra and Acoustic Unity, and is known for his energy, timing and unique ability to combine precision with spontaneity.
