At the gate to the forest of silence: A meeting with Stian Carstensen and Lars Elling

- A story about friendship, art and the disobedient brain
The double album Musical Sanatorium is the preliminary main work of the musical genius Stian Carstensen, and at the same time it is a running commentary on the composer's mental breakdown and subsequent recovery through music. Lars Elling has been close to the creator and everything he experienced during the time it took to complete the work.
In his new book At the gate of the forest of silence tells Lars Elling about the creation of this work, about life-threatening lows and cautious highs, about gigs and exhibitions, bangs and falls, and about the duty to praise the very best. Elling moves effortlessly and articulately between high and low in this portrait of a friend in need. It's about friendship and artistry, genius and madness, grief, aesthetics and the healing power of music.
There will be a reading from the book and live music by Stian Carstensen. The conversation is led by Audun Vinger.
