Expect an intense atmosphere at Energimølla on Thursday night – when Unionen, a new Swedish-Norwegian supercombo, play one of their few, exclusive concerts this year.
Unionen is a completely new band comprising four well-known names from the jazz world, with backgrounds from bands such as Supersilent, Koma Saxo, Acoustic Unity, Alla Mina Kompisar, Elephant9, Bushman’s Revenge, Enemy, Django Bates Beloved, Terje Rypdal Skywards, Orakel, Skrim, Susanne Sundfør and Gard Nilssen’s Supersonic Orchestra.
Unionen was formed out of the musicians’ wish to join forces on the boundary between acoustic and electronic musical expression – with suggestive riffs forming the basis for long, open improvisations.
In Unionen, Per Texas Johansson’s unique tone and myriad wind instruments meet Ståle Storløkken’s exploratory sound-world, Petter Eldh’s unshakeable, organic beat and Gard Nilssen’s creative, dynamic drumming. There is space for each of these fantastic musicians to contribute his own unique voice and explore new territories in this convention-free cross-border conglomeration.
Unionen makes its debut with three exclusive concerts in 2022, in collaboration with Finsejazz, Nasjonal Jazzscene in Oslo and Kongsberg Jazz Festival.
Per Texas Johansson – saxophones and winds
Ståle Storløkken – piano, synth and keys
Petter Eldh – double bass, electric bass and MPC
Gard Nilssen – drums and percussion
