New voices: Cecilie Grundt Quintet & Aila trio
Modern and stylish shooting star!

Cecilie Grundt Quintet
Modern and stylish shooting star!
This year too, young musicians are presented under the vignette 'New Voices'. Cecilie Grundt Quintet was started in 2016 by saxophonist and composer Cecilie Grundt, who graduated from the Jazz line at NTNU in spring 2018. The band has previously taken the Jazzbox by storm and has been successful at festivals and clubs.
Cecilie Grundt writes original and creative compositions that show a wide range of style references and inspirations. The music is a melting pot of lyrical melodies, free spontaneous parts, swinging American jazz, contemporary music and folk music in a combination that only sounds like Cecilie. The band delivers a modern, stylish expression and an interplay that will engage and excite the listeners.
Cecilie Grundt – saxophone
Øyvind Mathisen – trumpet
Håvard Aufles – piano
Morten Stai – bass
Håkon Mjåset Johansen – drums ...
... all with a background from Jazzlinja in Trondheim. They can also be heard in several other constellations that have established themselves on the Norwegian jazz scene, i.a. BenReddik, Relling, Zenos Mode, Matrjosjka, Sondre Ferstad Ensemble, ØyvindLAND and Aufles Turbomodul.
Aila trio
Melancholy, experimental and euphoric free jazz.
Swedish Ailo trio creates a feeling of calm and melancholy. They examine the boundaries between free improvisation and clear compositions without a fear of going beyond. The song material is centered around strong melodies, and serves as a framework for three strong improvisers who all know where they want to go. With a common approach in free jazz, they draw the listener into their own universe - let go and let yourself be carried by the trio's strong and fresh tones.
Georgia Wartel Collins – double bass, composition
Karl Hjalmar Nyberg- saxophone, clarinet
Andreas Winther drums
