Time Is A Blind Guide
The drummer, composer, arranger and band leader Thomas Strønen has caused justifiable attention with his new band 'Time is a Blind Guide'. Here he masterfully combines his interests in various musical traditions: Jazz, chamber music, contemporary music and folk music.
Thomas Strønen is known from a number of sometimes very different musical contexts - from freely improvised music in Food and Humcrush to the more structured groups of Maria Kannegaard and Mats Eilertsen. He has written music for film and theater and composed many major works. He has taken part in almost 70 disc recordings, of a very different nature. Much of what he is most comfortable with, he has now managed to collect in a new musical universe Time is a Blind Guide. We experience music that is both complex and simple, that is particularly melodic and beautiful, with an almost hypnotic effect at times. And the compositions and arrangements give the individual musicians ample opportunity for outstanding solo performances.
