The Real Thing + Swing'it Dixieband

After saxophonist Sigurd Køhn's death in the 2004 tsunami disaster, The Real Thing threw in the towel and put the band on ice, but resurrected in 2010 with Dave Edge on saxophone. Since its inception in 1992, the group has played more than 1 concerts and sold over 400 records of hard-swinging, organ-based soul jazz, inspired by greats such as Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, George Benson and Wes Montgomery. The band that "never leaves the stage in a dry tuxedo" has built up a solid fan base outside the jazz community as well.
Organist Palle Wagnberg, guitarist Staffan William-Olsson, saxophonist Dave Edge and drummer Hermund Nygård are looking forward to firing up the tour bus, lifting the 200 kg Hammond organ, checking that the bow is straight and unleashing old and new repertoire, not least from the CD "Back On Track".

But first you get a set with Swing it Dixie Band!
Swing'it Dixie Band, Norway's hippest and freshest gla'jazz band, will return to Kongsberg Jazzfestival for the third year in a row!
Two years ago they created a lot of atmosphere in a packed tent in Festivalgata and last year they played after Dr. John at Tubalooen - now they are coming back for the third time to create an atmosphere in Kongsberg's streets!
In the last two years, the band has created a shameful atmosphere at everything from jazz clubs, parades and nightclubs to festivals and as street musicians around the country. Currently, part of the band lives in London, where they are currently current with a series of Dixieland cover videos of Disney songs.
They do a great job of entertaining young and old alike with charm, fun and enthusiasm! In addition to playing old traditional songs, they also play well-known children's songs and Disney songs with their own distinctive character and interpretation, served with straw hats, crossbows and lots of energy! They also write catchy and jovial songs with witty lyrics and wit - Impossible not to like!
