Amadou & Mariam + The Blind Boys of Alabama

From Bamako to Birmingham: Amadou + Mariam and The Blind Boys of Alabama

Concert start: 23:59 Single ticket price: NOK 450

Get ready for fierce world-class gospel when Amadou & Mariam and Blind Boys of Alabama come to Kongsberg.

They have called the project "from Bamako to Birmingham". Here, musical boundaries are crossed between traditional gospel and
African music. The legendary closing concert in Kongsberg church is therefore a must!

The Blind Boys is known for crossing several musical boundaries with his remarkable interpretations from the traditional gospel to the more modern done in collaboration with highly famous musicians and songwriters (Eric Clapton, Prince and Tom Waits).

After being honored by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) with Lifetime Achievement Awards, became part of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and won a total of five Grammy® Awards; The Blind Boys have achieved the greatest recognition there is to achieve throughout their career that spans over 70 years.

During the last forty years have Amadou & Mariam consolidated their position as the most central performers within Malan and African music.

They have collaborated with producers who seem far removed from their universe (Damon Albarn of Blur and Manu Chao), invited the artists who are building tomorrow's pop music to play their naive and lively songs (Santigold, TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and been a source of inspiration for many when it comes to mixing Afro and electro sounds in one (MHD, DJ Mujava, Awesome Tapes From Africa, Four Tet or Jamie xx).

Having played at some of the world's biggest festivals (From Coachella to Glastonbury) and been on tour with big, world-famous names (Coldplay and the Scissor Sisters), they are now ready to conquer Kongsberg in 2019 with The Blind Boys of Alabama.
