The ECM favorite Thomas Strønen meets two of the rising stars of the Norwegian jazz scene in this energetic trio. They will be playing the last day of the festival, guesting the intimate stage: Sølvsalen.
The Trio Tanaka / Lea / Strønen position themselves in an open, exploratory and improvisational landscape.
We know Thomas Strønen knows from various musical projects: From the acoustic ECM project Time Is A Blind Guide, where Ayumi Tanaka appears on piano, to projects like Humcrush and Food, where electronics play a central role.
Japanese Ayumi Tanaka lives in Oslo where she has studied improvisation under Misha Alperin. She has been noticed by many jazz loves for her band Ayumi Tanka Trio, amongst numerous other things.
Saxophonist Marthe Lea, educated in jazz musician from NMH in Oslo, has in recent years been noticed for her role as a member of Bugge Wesseltoft’s new “New Conception of Jazz”.
