Stian Carstensen solo
An afternoon in the sign of spontaneity!
Stian Carstensen is probably best known from the band Farmers Market that has been active for 30 years, but he is playing Kongsberg Jazz Festival as a standalone artist.
His repertoire spans from baroque and Balkan to hillbilly and jazz, and he top’s it all off with his own songs in revue tradition. HE approaches it all with a substantial dose of on the spear of the moment versification int the tradition of “Myllarguten” (Legendary Norwegian fiddler from the 1800s), Bach and Charlie Parker. Stian is interested in improvisation in the strict sense of the word, therefore suggestions from the audience within the bounds of unreasonableness will be gladly accepted.
Stian Carstensen’s vast arsenal of instruments includes bagpipes, banjo, accordion (the tree most loathed), pedal steel, kaval and guitar.
