Stevie Wonder (Support: Knut Anders Sørum)

Concert start: 19:00 Price single ticket: 690 + bill tax, -

Since Stevie Wonder broke through as a 13-year-old in 1963, he has been one of the truly greats in the Motown stable, both as an artist and as a songwriter. In 1972, Wonder signed a new and revolutionary contract with Motown, which both gave him ownership of all his own songs and full artistic freedom. This led to the most successful part of his career, a period where hits such as "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life", "Superstition" and "Higher Ground" came one after the other.

It has now been four years since Stevie Wonder was last in Norway, and the concert at Kongsberg will be Wonder's only concert in Norway in 2014. "If you are interested in music, you cannot ignore Stevie Wonder" wrote Aftenposten during one of the artist's previous visits to Norway, and this is just as true today. The artist appeals to all age groups, and has fans both among the more discerning jazz audience and the man in the street. At Kongsberg, the audience can expect a hit parade, which will probably include songs such as "I Just Called To Say I Love You", "Superstition", "Isn't She Lovely", "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life" and "Living For The City”

- One of the world's greatest musical legends finds his way to the jazz festival's 50th anniversary, says festival manager Kai Gustavsen. - Stevie Wonder is one of the last century's greatest composers, a God-given singer and multi-instrumentalist. This will be a great experience. He has a song repertoire that is so large that everyone has heard his songs, and he is loved by the audience and musicians. We are looking forward to Kongsberg Jazzfestival's 50th anniversary ending with an amazing party when Kirketorget is filled with groovy choruses and lots of sing-alongs!

Support: Knut Anders Sørum
