Sondre Moshagen Lightning Trio
Young Jazz Musicians of the Year 2024 on nationwide tour!

With its origins in pianist Sondre Moshagen's compositions, this young trio presents a sparkling, energetic and listening interaction!
The music draws inspiration from classical impressionism, pop and expressive jazz music, and moves between minimalist collective lines where texture and timbre are in focus, to explosive solo parts.
Sondre Moshagen Lightning Trio, with bassist Kertu Aer and drummer Steinar Heide Bo, met at the jazz line in Trondheim in the fall of 2022. After last year's edition of the launch program Jazzintro, the trio was named Young Jazz Musicians of the Year 2024, and as part of the launch will be on view at a number of this year's festivals.
In the jury's reasoning, we can read, among other things, that "The trio has a clear and nice chemistry in the band and are strong individual voices with finesse and maturity. The compositions are of high class, with a lot of rhythmic authority that creates large musical spaces. The melodic and harmonic ideas give them a unique identity that creates beautiful moments. The security and presence in the band is contagious to the audience and makes you curious to hear more. "
Jazz intro is the country's largest and only national launch program for young jazz musicians. Through the program, the Young Jazz Musicians of the Year are selected, who receive a festival tour the following year, in addition to a tailored mentoring program. Jazzintro is organized by the Norwegian Jazz Forum, in collaboration with several of the country's largest jazz clubs and festivals. Jazzintro is organized with support from Savings bank foundation DNB og Talent Norway.
