Solveig Slettahjell Quartet with guest Frida Ånnevik

Solveig Slettahjell is without a doubt one of the greatest voices in Norwegian jazz.

Concert start: 21:00 Single ticket price: NOK 490

Solveig Slettahjell brings her quartet and plays songs from her selected "Scandinavian songbook". When, in addition, show singer and audience favorite Frida Ånnevik joins the concert as a guest, there are great reasons to raise expectations for this evening!

Solveig Slettahjell has long had the idea of making a quartet album based on her selected "Scandinavian songbook" and has collected songs for this project over several years. As always, she delights in putting together material that doesn't obviously belong together until it is brought together in her recognizable executive grip. In this eclectic collection we find music by Edvard Grieg's "Ved Rondane", Eva Dahlgren's "Guldlock", Alf Prøysen's "Trassvisa hennes Tora", songs by Lars Lillo Stenberg, Allan Edwall, Orup and Anne Grethe Preus, interspersed with newly written material by Slettahjell himself and Andreas Ulvo. Together with his quartet consisting of some of the biggest musicians in Norwegian jazz at the moment; Andreas Ulvo on piano, Trygve Waldemar Fiske on bass and Pål Hausken on drums, she has tackled these songs with the same love and irreverence that characterize jazz's handling of "the American songbook". The whole thing has been marked by a kind of Scandinavian chamber jazz inspired by many who have gone before; Zetterlund, Johanson, Brockstedt, Rosseland, but with Slettahjell and the quartet's clear ownership and own signature as the supporting element.

In autumn 2020, Frida Ånnevik celebrated 10 years as an artist, performing musician and songwriter. There have been five separate records, many concerts, nice collaborations and unexpected turns. From the first record, Frida has shaped an expression where tradition and innovation merge, and thrives on both fitting in - and at the same time challenging being a show singer.

In recent years, Frida has toured the country on outdoor and indoor stages, festivals, played three or four Rockefeller concerts, guested at Sentrum Scene, and much more. She has spent the last year in the studio, and new music is coming in 2023.
