Skrap & Steve Noble

Concert start: 21:30 Price single ticket: NOK 300

Premiere of a new and exciting constellation: Heida Mobeck and Anja Lauvdal in the duo SKRAP meet the English drummer Steve Noble.

In the duo Scratch we meet two of the most exciting musicians on today's Norwegian music scene. Heida Karine Johannisdottir Mobeck is primarily a tubaist, but also contributes with various sound effects. Anja Lauvdal plays piano and synths. Skrap is primarily an arena for imaginative improvisation. Genre boundaries are ignored in an extraordinarily fruitful way. Here it flows with jazz, rock, noise, improv and folk music which is crystallized in a highly personal expression. What they do is extremely fascinating, challenging and rewarding! The two's spacious relationship with accepted genres is emphasized by the fact that they are in very different bands, such as Skadedyr, Your Headlights Are On, Broen and Moskus.

On the closing day of the jazz festival, they will be able to unfold in a challenging interaction with a real greatness in European improvisational music, the English drummer Steve Noble. He is also a very open-minded musician who has been inspired by many kinds of music. He has studied with the Nigerian master drummer Elkan Ogunde, he has played avant garde jazz-pop, been inspired by Asian percussionists, participated in theater and dance performances and much more. But he has gradually - with this ballast - turned more and more towards free improvisation. He has played with greats such as John Edwards, Derek Bailey, Joe McPhee and Peter Brötzmann. He is a brave and inventive musician, with a unique ability to enter into a meaningful musical conversation. Now, for the first time, he will meet two of Norway's most creative improvisers. They must be an event!
