Three of jazz's biggest stars make the trip to the Kongsberg Jazz Festival with the tour premiere of their new project - Sing the Truth! They have put together a strong program where the goal is that no one leaves the concert without plenty of joy. Musical director of the project is Grammy award-winning Terri Lyne Carrington.

Cecile McLaurin Salvant referred to as the great, American voice! There are at most one to two singers like this in each generation. The legacy of Sarah Vaughan, Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday can be heavy for anyone to shoulder, but the barely 30-year-old Grammy winner carries it with a straight back.

Liz Wright, kaitian background, trilingual upbringing in Miami and classical education in France make for an original and multifaceted entry into the jazz tradition. She has her own roots in the gospel music of the American southern states, and along the way was inspired by artists such as Nina Simone, Cassandra Wilson and Joni Mitchell. She started playing the piano and singing at an early age, and soon drew inspiration from both soul, pop and blues. Aged just 20, she joined the vocal quartet In the Spirit in 2000, while a couple of years later she attracted attention during a tribute tour to Billie Holiday. Since then she has been one of jazz's great vocal stars.

Angelique Kidjo, the queen of afro-funk has won the Grammy for in the category "Best Contemporary World Music Album" for the record "Djin Djin" It was produced by Tony Visconti and with a star-studded guest list that included Peter Gabriel and Ziggy Marley, among others. Kidjo has become a world star since his breakthrough with "Batonga" in 1991 and mixes soul, funk and pop with his musical roots from Benin in West Africa. She was several times in Norway and is well known to the Norwegian public not only as a musician but as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, as a strong and committed voice for all those who do not speak up and are heard, and she is involved in a number of international projects. "Electric and explosive", "with soul and flair", "Africa's diva" - there are many descriptions of Kidjo's music and stage appearance. She has collaborated with big names such as Alicia Keys, James Brown and Philip Glass. The Grammy-winning artist has a power and musicality that hits right in the heart. She is a musical firework that makes it impossible to sit still and just listen.

Seven years old was Terri Lyne Carrington when she got the drum kit from her jazz musician grandfather. As a 10-year-old she performed at the Wichita Jazz Festival, and the following year she received a scholarship at the prestigious Berklee College of Music where she is today an honorary doctorate and teacher and a brilliant percussionist!
