Seun Kuti & Egypt 80

Concert start: 23:59 Single ticket price: NOK 370

One of today's biggest African artists and one of Afrobeat's foremost ambassadors is playing an exclusive club concert at Energimølla!

Seun Kuti is the youngest son of the legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, known as the foremost style maker in afrobeat, a genre that originated in Nigeria's capital Lagos in the 60s.

Egypt 80 is originally Fela Kuti's band, where his son Seun started as a backing vocalist already at the age of nine. Seun was 15 when Fela died in 1997, and was already ready to take over his father's legendary backing band, both as saxophonist and lead vocalist.

Despite his father's undisputed influence, Seun Kuti has insisted on his own musical expression, including by mixing elements from newer music genres into the traditional Afrobeat. With his latest album, Seun Kuti has gone a long way to proving that he is able to carry on the legacy of his father with Egypt 80, while at the same time being the master of his own musical universe.

Seun Kuti usually plays in big concert venues when he tours Europe. Hearing these fireworks from an artist at an intimate club like Energimølla is an ever-so-small sensation!

Hot afro beat!
