Morland United is a hard-winding and energetic jazz quartet with two saxophones, bass and drums, which was started at the beginning of 2015. The band plays music based on compositions by bandleader Martin Morland and has large spaces for collective improvisation and freedom, but often with swing and grooves as the starting point. Inspiration from both new and old, free and unfree jazz underlies both the compositions and the improvisations, which are performed with a high level of energy and enthusiasm. The musicians are young and ambitious and have backgrounds from Norway's College of Music, the Kristiansand Conservatory and the Berklee College of Music, and are all active in the jazz scene in Oslo.

Morland United is:

Trygve Rypestøl – saxophones

Magnus Bakken – saxophones

Martin Morland – bass

Øystein Aarnes Vik – drums
