Special Saturday 2022
For this year's Særinglørdag, we are proud to present a star team of artists within contemporary jazz.
Signe Emmeluth and Tony Buck
This is a new and promising constellation! Saxophonist Signe Emmeluth is one of the most sought-after saxophonists in Norway, and anyone who has heard her understands why. There is an incredible passion and expressive temperament in her playing. It's going to be a real musical treat to hear her teamed up with drummer Tony Buck. He is from Australia, but we have heard him in Norway many times, most often in the trio The Necks. He often plays solo concerts, and is constantly expanding his palette with exciting percussion and creative techniques.

Moon Day: Golding, Edwards, Rochford
In this trio we meet three musicians who have all left their mark on contemporary jazz. The saxophonist Binker Golding is the youngest of them, and he stands in the middle of the environment that makes London a particularly sought-after jazz city at the moment, and with the duo Binker & Moses he has helped gather a new generation of listeners. Bassist John Edwards is a veteran on the international improvisation and jazz scene. He is a significant musician whom we have fortunately heard here at Kongsberg many times. Drummer Seb Rochford represents a middle generation, and he has left his mark on several well-known jazz groups. He really got to know the popular band Polar Bear, and has subsequently become a much sought-after musician on the English scene. This trio (with Steve Noble on drums) released the album Moon Day in 2021. It seethes with temperament and energy: "This is free jazz at its most challenging and engaging. 'Moon Day' is undoubtedly a future classic".
