Henriette Eilertsen / Håvard Wiik / Mark Sanders
Henriette Eilertsen received the Kongsberg Jazz Festival's grand musician award in 2024, and during this year's festival she is back with several exciting projects. At Særingfest we meet her in collaboration with two very prominent names on the European jazz scene: pianist Håvard Wiik and drummer Mark Sanders.
I have chosen Håvard Wiik and Mark Sanders for this trio because I believe we can be united in that we all like to be in the middle of a musical chaos of ideas and clear clear lines. If we can sound like three sailors in a headwind, I am happy! Steadfast, heartfelt and in the middle of the storm from nature and life!
Henriette Eilertsen
Wiik has been a central figure in both Norwegian and international jazz for decades, with a unique ability to combine complex structure with spontaneous energy. He is perhaps best known for Atomic and Free Fall, but has also made a strong impression as a solo pianist and composer.
Mark Sanders, for his part, is a sought-after percussionist in the British and international improvisational world. With a responsiveness and dynamic power that few can match, he has played with everyone from Evan Parker to Derek Bailey and is renowned for his ability to make any musical space vibrate.
