Særingfest at Smeltehytta is a full evening of music and sound in all forms and variations, refreshing drinks, mingling and a summer atmosphere – simply a festival within a festival. One ticket gives you 4 concerts in one evening, with some of the best in European improvisational music!
Decoy have developed a strong and unique expression as an improv band since 2008. They began inviting various guests to their concerts early on, which has led to a status as a kind of house band in London's Café Oto.
The music takes the form of intense and meditative journeys that often take on a psychedelic edge. With past guests such as Joe McPhee, Evan Parker og Xhosa Cole we get an idea of where they are aiming. John Edwards and Steve Noble have both visited Kongsberg Jazz Festival before (do you remember Skrap + Steve Noble or the solo concert John Edwards played at Åkern?), while Alexander Hawkins is doing his first concert here this year.
The same goes for the band's guest, Camila Nebbia. The Argentine-born saxophonist based in Berlin has been a fixture on the European jazz and improv scene in recent years. She has made a name for herself through projects with musicians such as Chris Corsano, Kit Downes og Michael Formanek, and now also as a guest with Decoy!
