Richard Bona
On Saturday 9 July we will have the pleasure of experiencing one of the world's most renowned bassists - Richard Bona, at Kongsberg Musikkteater!
Richard Bona is originally from Cameroon, where he grew up in poor conditions, and therefore learned to build his own instruments. In 1987 he moved to Paris, and from there on to New York, where he has played with many artists. Manu Dibango, Salif Keita and Didier Lockwood can be mentioned here. He also fronted Harry Belafonte's band in 1998 before touring as part of Pat Methenys' band in 2002. The first record under his own name – Scenes from my life, came in 1999.
He is a true entertainer, always in close contact with the audience, and elegantly and confidently combines African, European and American musical traditions. In addition to being an eminent bassist, Bona is also a very good singer, and in the summer, we can look forward to him and his orchestra serving us funk, jazz and rhythmics at a particularly high level.
This year, we have set up night buses on the night of Saturday and the night of Sunday, in collaboration with VY. The night buses depart from the Kongsberg hub at 01.00 Saturday 9 July and 01.00 Sunday 10 July.
