Reolô

In just a few years, Reolô has established itself as a kind of superband in Norwegian folk music – while their expression draws clear lines to both rock and improvised music.
Musically, Reolô spans a wide range. English music can slide over into rock groove with inspiration from both West Africa and America, before the expression finds its way back to the acoustic and traditional. The result is a band that both manages and challenges tradition.
The debut album ANDRE SIDA (2019) was brilliantly received, and in March 2025 the sequel DYSTOPI DELETE was released. The album was recorded in Juke Joint Studio at Notodden and mixed by Mattias Glava (Dungen, Elephant9, Håkan Hellström), and has been met with strong reviews.
On DYSTOPI DELETE the band also looks to the present. The lyrics touch on themes such as prepping, a flock of sheep speeding towards a cliff and a world in constant change. At the same time, the focus on groove, close interaction and old-fashioned tonality give the music a slightly timeless feel.
When Reolô comes to Kongsberg Jazz Festival, it's with a band that both plays with tradition and pushes it further. This is music that can both make you nod in recognition to old folk tunes – and wonder what on earth just hit you.
