Get ready for a solo concert with guitar virtuoso Ralph Towner!
With his impressive musical CV and a career that has spanned several decades, Ralph Towner is a true mainstay of the music world. In his younger years he was a pianist inspired by the work of Bill Evans, but later became a skilled guitarist, with a special interest in both classical and 12-string guitar. He has collaborated with many of the big names of the jazz world, including Weather Report, Jan Garbarek and Gary Burton. He was a founder member of the quartet Oregon, where his fascination for both classical and world music came to the fore – interests that still permeate his work as a solo performer.
His solo concerts are full of musical imagery, flowing with waves of air and space – and brimming with influences and motifs from classical and folk music, Spanish music and other impulses from all over the world; and of course an exploration of deep well of jazz tradition.
