Queen evening with Åge Sten Nilsen and band
Åge Sten Nilsen's Queen show has become one of the country's most successful music shows, seen by over 400.000 Norwegians. The show has been presented in various versions over the course of 8 years. Åge Sten Nilsen is today regarded as Scandinavia's definitively best Queen and Freddie Mercury interpreter.
For Kongsbergjazz he brings a real cream band to give a wonderful concert version:
Jon Pettersen (guitar), Torbjørn Raa (guitar/choir), Atle Rakvåg (bass/choir), Ole Tom Torjussen (drums), Lasse Finbråten (keys).
Since his stage debut in 1984, Åge Sten Nilsen has established himself as one of the country's leading rock singers and artists. He debuted as a professional in the musical "Hair" at Brygeteateret in 1992, participated in the Nrk entertainment program Rondo for several seasons, took 3rd place in MGP 1998, launched his debut single and debut album and toured with a number of bands and show productions.
Åge Sten Nilsens will still for most people always be associated with the stage character "Glam" in the now defunct band Wig Wam. With their monster hit "In My Dreams", the band really broke through when they hijacked the victory in MGP 2005, and caused a furore in the international final in Kiev. WIG WAM went on for 12 years, released 5 studio albums, 1 live album and 2 DVDs, toured throughout Europe and Japan, and received both gold and platinum awards for several of their releases. During these 12 years, Åge Sten also managed to release 2 solo albums, play one of the main roles in the English cast version of the musical Chess and the New Norwegian version of the musical Which Witch, lead TV3's "Singing Bee" for 3 seasons, win TV2's " Det Store Korslaget" with his Team-Åge and produce his own Queen tribute show "The Show Must Go On".
