Explore young talents at Jazzboksen!
Outside our regular festival program, we also have concerts at Jazzboksen. Here we organize free concerts every day, all day – and give students, semiprofessional and amateurs the opportunity to play concert for a wide audience.
Watch out, tomorrow’s jazz stars can be found among this program. Previously, artists such as Fieh, Frøy, Bendik Baksaas and Hilde Marie Holsen have played on this scene.
Andresen / Christoffersen kvintett // 14:00
This newly formed quintett is made up of students at the Norwegian Academy of Music. With their own original compositions the band performs with a playful and energetic interplay, with the focus on the groups as a whole. Their music is not only for the hardcore jazzaudience, but for anyone who wants to enjoy a some nice music.
Mina Nystad // 17:00
Mina Nystad is accompanied by Hanna Skjerdal on bass and Solveig Nyhus on drums, and together they’re going to play a set of self-written songs, alongside jazz-tunes and other music. Look forward to jazz- and soul inspired music, and three very exited girls!
Reidun Ottersen // 18:30
With their feet firmly planted in a multitude of styles, these four musicians are influenced by blues and jazzpop, funk and traditional jazz. With small hints of free improvisation and re-arranged pop songs, they form a playful and varied sound. After a successful year in Toneheim folkehøgskole, where the band was formed, they are now ready enter the stage at Jazzboksen with solid groove.
Maria Norseth Garli // 20:00
Maria makes never-ending tunes, where the build-up is so slow that it is almost not noticeable. Repetitive, like small meditations, a kind of forced stillness that is never completely silent. She is searching for ways from, to and between songs and free improvisation, with simplicity and time as two of the most important tools.
