Programme: The jazz box // Thursday

Check out the program and visit the Jazzbox to see tomorrow's musicians!

Concert start: 14.00 Price single ticket: Free,

Free

Outside of our regular festival programme, we also have concerts Jazzboksen. Here we organize free concerts every day, all day - and give students, semi-professionals and amateurs the opportunity to play concerts for a wide audience.

Watch out, tomorrow's jazz stars can be found among this program. In the past, artists such as Fieh, Frøy, Bendik Baksaas and Hilde Marie Holsen have played on this stage.

Andresen / Christoffersen quintet // 14:00

The newly started quintet originates from Norway's Academy of Music in Oslo, where the music can be described as Scandinavian jazz. Starting from self-composed songs, the quintet play in an interplay between everything from arranged melodies to longer improvised stretches, where the focus is on the group as a unit. The music is not only for "jazzers", but also for those who want a great musical experience.

Mina Nystad // 17:00

Mina Nystad brings with her Solveig Nyhus on drums and Hanna Skjerdal on bass, and together they will play a set with a number of her own songs written by Mina alongside jazz songs and other music. Look forward to jazz and soul inspired music from three girls who are very excited!

Reidun Ottersen Quartet // 18:30

With their feet firmly planted in a multitude of styles, these four musicians weave their way through blues and jazz pop, funk and traditional jazz. Seasoned with small hints of free improvisation and rearranged pop songs, they form a playful and varied soundscape. After a completed year at Toneheim folk college, where the band was formed, they are now ready to enter the Jazzbox with a firm groove and catchy interplay. Here, there is simply something for every taste!

Maria Norseth Garli // 20:00

Maria makes songs that go on and on, where the build-up is so slow that it is hardly noticeable. Repetitive, almost like small meditations, a kind of forced stillness that never stops completely. She looks for ways from, to and between songs and free improvisation, with simplicity and time as two of the most important tools. The idea is to keep all possibilities open, but at the same time never lose the silence and simplicity.

MDCXXIV – Aufles / Hasslan / Skalstad // 21:30

Three hard-working trotters with roots in the technology/silver city have an unstoppable desire to make a bit of a living in the jazz box this Thursday evening! You may know them from bands like Krokofant and Deathdoom, or maybe you've only heard them at Christmas jams in recent years? In any case, it should be fairly certain that this will be a proper run, and that it should be possible to rock out a bit when this band enters the stage.

Note that there is a free age limit in Festivalgata until 20:00 p.m.!

The jazz box is open every day during the festival, check out the rest of the programme:
