In collaboration with Quality Hotel Grand, we organize free concerts every day, all day in Festivalgata. In addition their will be DJs out in the late night hours. Come, join and feel the good festival atmosphere!
JAZZÅ // 11:00
Swing’it – Norway’s hottest trad jazz band – are returning to Kongsberg Jazz Festival for the sixth time to take the audience on a journey hundred years back – across the Atlantic – to 1920s New Orleans. They serve a highly entertaining show with boater hats, humor, juicy soloes, swinging rhythms and a big dose of charm that would fit right into one of Great Gatsby extravagant parties. The band played no less than 75 concerts across 6 different countries last year and on their CV they can boast of a spot in the semi finals in Norway’s Got Talent, concerts at several of UKs and Norway’s biggest jazz festivals and support acts for artists like A-ha and Dr. John
Ian & the Jazzheads // 15:30
The british sax player Ian Trewhella has been a part of the jazz scene in UK, USA, Germany, Polen, Israel, Cyprus, and Spain before he landed in Norway. Together with musicians from Hurum, Oslo and Azerbaijan he formed the band Ian & The Jazzheads in 2017.
Ian & The Jazzheads has an unorthodox and engaging approach with a broad spectre of jazz and jazz rock, playing music composed by Brecker Brothers, Bob Berg and Mike Stern, Sam Rivers, John Coltrane.
Vollen Big Band // 17:00
Vollen Big Band consists of 23 playful musicians from Asker and Vollen. Vollen Big Band has a versatile repertoire, both classic big band swing, ballads, latin and well known pop and rock songs.
Myyst // 18:30
Myyst is a jazz/rock band formed in 2014. They started playing indie rock, but moved fast in a much more progressive direction. Today they play a mix of jazz, prog and rock, and are always looking for to challenge themselves musically. You can describe Myyst with four words: Blod, Sweat, Tears and Saxophone
Funkelia Groove Company // 20:00
With 12 experienced musicians on stage and a powerful repertoire, Festivalgata will swing this evening, just as it did last year. Funkelia Groove Company serves soul and funk with energy and playful joy.
DJ Ole K // 21:00
Ole K has been a DJ around Norway since the late nineties! He plays a blissful mix of soul, funk, yacht rock, disco and pop. Not too strange, not too stressful, but very dance-friendly.
Observe that there are no age restrictions in Festivalgata until 20:00.
