THE POESIOASEN: HAUGTUSSA WITH ANE DAHL TORP AND SJUR MILJETEIG

EXTRA! In a guest play from Det Norske Teatret, Ane Dahl Torp has tackled Arne Garborg's large and compelling poem cycle about Haugtussa. In collaboration with composer and trumpeter Sjur Miljeteig, she will now shed new light on the mysterious and psychic Veslemøy.
Haugtussa deals with the subconscious, the urges and the wildness of the human mind. It is about the shepherd girl Veslemøy, who is approached by her deceased sister one early morning. She says that Veslemøy has a difficult road ahead of her - because she is psychic, condemned to see what others cannot see. During the performance, she encounters dead and underground, evil forces both within and outside of herself.
- Now Sjur Miljeteig and I have played our version of "Haugtussa" at Det Norske Teatret for almost three years, but as the music is such a big part of the performance, it will be very nice to take it to the Kongsberg Jazz Festival. I've had a good time at the festival as an audience member in the past - looking forward to being there myself! says actor Ane Dahl Torp.
"Intimate, intense and beautiful. A performance characterized by Miljeteig's musical weight in improvised music, and Torp's playful ability as an actor. The lyrical alternates with the raw and rock (...) a breathtaking experience. The duo Torp/Miljeteig each have their own fine-tuned artistic nerve, which in this case has generated a harmonious tone" VG (dice roll 5)
Ane Dahl Torp (voice, script), Sjur Miljeteig (trumpet, composer), Kyrre Heldal Karlsen (lighting design). Director: Ane Dahl Torp and Erik Ulfsby
