Ola Kvernberg + Jason Moran
Dream duo! The pioneering American pianist Jason Moran meets Norwegian jazz's fiddle favorite Ola Kvernberg in a unique concert - only at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival!
Since the end of the 90s, Jason Moran has been a central figure on the American jazz scene. He has released a number of records on the legendary Blue Note Records, both with his permanent trio Bandwagon and as a solo pianist. In addition to his own compositions, Jason Moran has become known for his interpretations of figures such as Thelonious Monk and Fats Waller.
Since the turn of the millennium, Ola Kvernberg has been a leading musician on the Norwegian jazz scene, both with his own projects and as a significant contributor to others' projects. Ola Kvernberg has previously received the festival's major musician prize, the DNB prize, and then composed the work Mechanical Fair for the prize-winning concert - a work that was later recorded on record and rewarded with a nomination for the Spellemannsprisen.
Both Jason Moran and Ola Kvernberg are known as technically brilliant performers, but also as musical innovators who are able to both renew and challenge the jazz genre. When they meet at Energimølla during the Kongsberg Jazz Festival, we also get the answer to whether the two are able to challenge each other.
