Odd Nordstoga

Concert start: 23:30 Single ticket price: NOK 450

Odd brings the band and his latest critically acclaimed album, and wants to entertain and give us a wonderful summer atmosphere, because if there is an artist who creates a good atmosphere, then it has to be Odd Nordstoga.

About that album, Odd himself says: ‹‹I've never been so happy with a recording before, and I'm dying to get it out. Burning to play it for people. So this, this can never go well. There must be something I haven't thought of... ››

On stage this summer, he has Øyvind Blomstrøm on guitar, Torstein Lofthus on drums, Tor Egil Kreken on bass and David Wallumrød on keys.

In 2004, he made a big breakthrough with the album Luring, which, with the help of the hit "Kveldsong for deg og meg", sold a whopping 160 copies. After this came the album Heim te mor with songs such as "Dagane" and "Frøken Franzen" at about the same time as the series Jul i Svingen aired on NRK. There, Nordstoga had the music together with John Vinge. In the same year, he also played the role of Fuglefanten in the folk music version of The Magic Flute, which toured the whole of Norway and Sweden. In 000, he released an album based on lyrics by Stein Versto and Ragnar Hovland, which was named Pilgrim. A new major commercial success came the following year, when together with Sissel Kyrkjebø he released the Christmas album Strålande Jul with no less than 2008 copies sold and an 350 times platinum trophy. Elias Blix's hymn "Upp gledjest alle" from there is today with Nordstoga's melody included in the new hymn book. The album November came the following year, and there the folk character is for the first time toned down a little in favor of a slightly darker and personal landscape. The sunny side of this landscape comes into its own in the next record Vaffelhjarte, which is entirely inspired by Maria Parr's book and the TV series of the same name. The songs "Bestevenn" and "Ein farfar i lievt" from here probably stand today as some of the things that have seen the deepest impact from Nordstoga's hands. Vaffelhjarte was celebrated with two sold-out houses in the Opera and a TV concert on NRK. But there was no room for a Norway tour. However, that was the plan right from the start on the next project. Again a collaboration with one of Norway's great female songbirds, Ingebjørg Harman Bratland. Together, they took their common folk musical upbringing as a starting point and made the record Heimafrå and then went on tour in small village houses, youth centers and the like all over the country. There were 000 concerts in three quarters of a year, and it all ended with two fantastic concerts again in the Norwegian Opera. Odd is now working on finalizing his new album, which will be released in the autumn. The first single from here is called "Kunsten å ga"

- The art of walking" is a song about going out of one's house, and in a slightly lavish way enjoying life and thinking about the wonderful things of walking - says Odd himself about the song.
The album was recorded in the legendary Studio Atlantis in Stockholm, with the Bergen brothers David and Ivar Vogt from the folk band Realones as producers.

- Even the simplest things, like walking, are an art for those who can't do it. For Odd Nordstoga, creating a hyper-catchy summer song is among the simplest things - for the rest of us, it's just to admire this art, says David Chelsom Vogt.

Odd Nordstoga has won quite a few prizes for his musical talent this autumn, including 5 fiddler prizes including fiddler of the year for 2004. But he has also received many prizes for his language. Among other things, the Storegut prize, and the Nynorsk cultural center's highest award, Nynorsk user of the year.

Odd Nordstoga (guitar and vocals), Øyvind Blomstrøm on guitar, Torstein Lofthus on drums, Tor Egil Kreken on bass and David Wallumrød on keys.
