New Voices: Master Oogway
This year too, young musicians are presented under the vignette 'New Voices'. This year there will be a double concert with the quintet Juno and the quartet Master Oogway.

Master Oogway emerges from the environment at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. This is a band that really bubbles over with temperament and energy. The musicians have clearly been inspired by the more powerful part of the jazz tradition from the 1960s. But there is more here! The guitarist does not go out of his way to fire up very rocking phrases. Saxophonist Skeidsvoll has a tone and a punch in his horn that makes nostalgic people think of the great saxophone heroes of (free) jazz. When both drummer and bassist are completely on the same wavelength, every concert with Master Oogway becomes a meaningful free time.
