New voices: Magnus Aannestad Oseth

The trumpeter Magnus Aannestad Oseth from Nedre Eiker is well known in the jazz community in Kongsberg. Now Kongsberg Jazzfestival believes that it is time for him to be exposed to a large festival audience.
Magnus Aannestad Oseth (25) from Steinberg, Nedre Eiker, currently living in Berlin, Germany after completing his master's degree in performing trumpet, from Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium (RMC) in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is a young, up-and-coming trumpeter on the European jazz scene. His versatility has made him a much sought-after musician and in addition to his debut concert in Oslo Concert Hall in January 2014, he was the first and only Norwegian to be selected to be part of the JM Jazz World Orchestra in the same year.
Those who have heard him understand why. Magnus is an exceptionally confident and mature musician who feels at home in a wide variety of musical contexts. For the graduation concert at Rytmisk Konservatorium, he put together a quartet, and that is the one he now comes to Kongsberg with. The quartet consists of musicians from Belgium, Sweden and Norway, and they play music composed by Magnus Aannestad Oseth. The music is definitely 'modern', but consistently located in a melodic landscape. The quartet carried out a very well-received tour in Norway in the spring of 2015. In 2014, Magnus was the only Norwegian selected for the international big band JM Jazz World Orchestra.
His efforts there impressed so much that he joined the band in 2015 as well. Having played at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival a number of times before, this will be the first time Oseth presents his own project with self-composed music.
Magnus Aannestad Oseth (NO) – Trumpet & Composition
Alex Koo Derudder (BE) – Piano
Johannes Volten Vaht (SE) – Double bass
Håkon Berre (NO) – Drums
NB: The same ticket applies to both concerts in the series "New Voices" - i.e. 18:30 with Tom Hasslan Group
