Trumpeter, composer and producer Nils Petter Molvær is a pioneer in the new fusion music, where the programmed meets the improvised. Now he will break new ground in a commissioned piece for an extended cast, which will be performed for the first time at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival.
Nils Petter Molvær is the link between stylistic extremes. In his music, jazz, ambient, house, electronica and breakbeats meet, and in Molvær's hands the sounds flow together into soundscapes with deep intensity.
Since his start with Masqualero 1982, trumpeter, composer and producer Molvær has changed the face of improvised music in Europe. After the enormous international success with the album "Khmer" in 1997, Nils Petter Molvær has continued to develop his own expression, in the face of jazz, ambient, house and electronica, as well as hip-hop, rock and pop. His efforts include works with symphony orchestras, with the composer Rolf Wallin, with the German DJ/electronic artist Moritz von Oswald, and most recently the album with the dubstep legends Sly & Robbie in 2018. So far there have been nine albums under his own name, in addition for soundtracks for film and television, documentaries and plays. Molvær's previous solo album "Buoyancy" received an adventurous reception, including the Spellemannpris for best jazz record.
