Neset/Kleive/Eilertsen/Dale

Critically acclaimed saxophonist in collaboration with some of our strongest voices

Door opens: 19:00 Single ticket price: NOK 390

The critically acclaimed saxophonist Marius Neset was recently called a young titan in European new music by The Guardian's legendary jazz critic John Fordham. Neset was also the only musician living in Europe to be featured on Downbeats 25 for the future, which will shape the future of jazz for years to come. He has written three orchestral works for the London Sinfonietta, premiered at the Royal Albert Hall, as part of the BBC Proms series. Neset has received well over twenty awards or award nominations.

Now he is involved in a sparkling collaboration with three of our biggest names on the Norwegian jazz scene; Eyolf Dale on the piano, Mats Eilertsen on bass and Audun Kleive on drums. Together they largely draw on structures from Neset's long career as a composer. The collaboration and mutual respect between four strong voices create the sound of this new Norwegian super quartet.

Rumors from when the quartet played at Anjazz in Hamar last May tell of an absolutely exquisite lineup of musicians. They delivered a fantastic concert at a high level, individually and as a quartet.

We are looking forward to this!

Audun Kleive is often referred to as a legend in European jazz circles. His playing style is characterized by both technical skill and a unique approach to dynamic rhythms and improvisational interplay. Kleive has worked innovatively with the integration of jazz and electronic music since the early 80s.

Mats Eilertsen is known as a sensitive, melodic and lyrical bassist who places particular emphasis on ensemble playing. He has operated extensively within open and sonorous modern jazz expressions, as well as more experimental, genre-crossing directions.

Eyolf Dale, Known for his lyrical and exploratory playing style, Dale has distinguished himself both as a solo artist and through exploratory collaborations. Combining Nordic melancholy with improvisational playfulness, his strong melodic expression has made him one of Europe's leading jazz pianists.
