Night in Bethlehem – Solveig Slettahjell & Tord Gustavsen
Atmospheric Christmas concert based on critically acclaimed album.

Since Solveig Slettahjell went to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem in 2008 to record the critically acclaimed album NIGHT IN BETLEHEM, she has given an exclusive number of Christmas concerts based on this recording every year. At Kulturkirken Jakob in Oslo, this has become a tradition that attracts full houses every year, and we are incredibly happy to present this atmospheric concert in beautiful Kongsberg Church.
Together with pianist Tord Gustavsen, Solveig Slettahjell interprets Christmas carols with an intensity and empathy that only she can deliver.
Among the repertoire we find: Silent night, Delicious is the Earth, I sing a Christmas carol. og Ring the bell now., but also lesser-known Christmas songs such as the traditional American Sleep Holy Babe og Oh, if only I could be a child again by Sigurd Lunde and Karl Marthiniussen.
«The music is subdued, both devotional, fragile and solemn. This is music for contemplation and reflection.. "

During this year's jazz festival, we experienced a very special concert in Kongsberg Church with Solveig Slettahjell, In the Country and Knut Reiersrud. In 2023, Tord Gustavsen performed a meditative and atmospheric Jazz Mass in the church together with saxophonist Trygve Seim.
We look forward to having Slettahjell and Gustavsen back in the beautiful church room, and welcome the audience to a rarely beautiful musical experience.
