Nachspiel: Ivan Ave feat. Mathias Eick

Concert start: 23:30 Single ticket price: NOK 200

Ivan Ave, Norway's best rapper, brings Mathias Eick himself as a guest in the first concert to be organized on our new stage, Magazinet (the old library at Festivalgata). Bendik Hovik Kjeldsberg (drums), Arthur "Dr Kay" Piene (keys) and Kristoffer Eikrem (trumpet) also play in the band.

We have heard many fine collaborations where Mathias has left his clear and beautiful mark on the music. Long referred to as one of Norway's most promising young talents, it has now been confirmed that Mathias Eick is one of the Nordic countries' best musicians regardless of age group and genre, and with an impressive range of achievements behind him. There are many jazz prizes, the record releases on ECM itself. And in 2014 he received the Kongsberg Jazz Festival's major musician prize, the DNB prize.

Ivan Ave's distinctive tonality and jazz-inspired sound, combined with a unique flair for text, flow, productions and hip-hop historical references, sets him apart from the multitude of Norwegian rap's often more pubescent expressions. The collaboration with the Los Angeles-based producer Mndsgn has produced a musical expression that is equally recommended to followers of the so-called "golden age" of hip-hop, as well as fans of today's progressive hip-hop.

After Ivan Ave's debut EP 'Low Jams', the 27-year-old from Vinje has been hailed as Norway's best English-language rapper. In 2014, the EP was voted the year's 11th best release, as the only EP on the list. He has also garnered praise at home and abroad and has already played festivals such as Øya (2014) and Slottsfjell (2015), as well as larger and smaller clubs in Oslo, Berlin, New York and Paris, before the release of the album.

In the winter of 2016, Ivan Ave (Mutual Intentions) went on a European tour to celebrate the album "Helping Hands". The record is Ivan Ave's solo debut LP, and was produced by Los Angeles-based Mndsgn (Stones Throw). You can expect floating beats and heartfelt songs from Norwegian hip-hop's most exciting artist.
