Morgonrode
Tradition and innovation meet in the music of the quintet Morgonrode.
At this concert, Morgonrode takes the audience into a musical landscape where traditional strumming is woven together with his own lyrics and old ballads get a new look. The band's own compositions merge with improvisational parts colored by the group's nuanced and varied background.
Morgonrode made their debut with the Spellemannpris, folk alarm nomination and rave reviews with the band's self-titled "Morgonrode" in 2019. In 2020, the group released their second album with the intriguing title "Du milde verden" and in June the band recorded their third album.
Morgonrode is an older spelling for "morgonrauda", the red sky at sunrise, and is a good image of the band's way of making folk music. Here, the music is free to unfold in new directions as the sunrise rises and the sun's rays spread throughout the day. The group consists of some of the country's best, most creative and sought-after musicians, and after several active years have grown close together. With the sonorous richness of three fiddles, langeleik, resonant strings, double bass and drums, combined with forward-leaning grooves and good drive, Morgonrode has sharpened its distinctive band expression and appears more unified than ever.
We are looking forward to a golden afternoon class in Kongsberg church.
