Mezzoforte
– legendary jazz funk from Iceland!

With their energetic interplay, funky grooves and technical brilliance, Mezzoforte has thrilled audiences around the world for over four decades. Now the Icelandic band returns to Norway – ready for a late night filled with drive, joy of playing and timeless jazz funk in the backyard of Christians Kjeller.
Mezzoforte really made an international breakthrough with the instrumental hit GARDEN PARTY (1983) – a song that is still considered a classic in jazz funk. Since their beginnings in the late 70s, the band has been among the most important pioneers from Iceland on the international scene, and their mix of jazz, funk and fusion has inspired musicians far beyond their homeland.
As a live band, Mezzoforte is known for its precision, dynamics and musical excess. The concerts are full of driving rhythms, strong melodies and space for virtuoso solo performances – delivered by musicians who know each other inside and out after decades together on stage.
When the band takes over Christians Kjeller during the Kongsberg Jazz Festival, everything is set for an evening where groove, joy of playing and classic songs meet in close interaction with the audience.
