Melody Gardot + Angelina Jordan (support)

Concert start: 17:00 Price single ticket: NOK 650

Audience favorite and world star Melody Gardot is ready for the Kongsberg Jazz Festival. On Saturday 9 July, the artist, who is called by many our time's answer to Nina Simone, will be on stage in Kongsberg's Musikkteater. Angelina Jordan heats up from 16:30!

Ever since Melody Gardot, as a relatively unheralded tabloid for the Norwegian audience, performed at Skavlan in 2009, she has been a big favorite here at home. With her languid and elegant music at the intersection of jazz, blues and soul, she has topped the VG list and performed a number of sold-out concerts in Norway. Last autumn, Melody Gardot completed a sold-out tour to the biggest cities in Norway to jubilant feedback from both the audience and reviewers.

Earlier this year, Melody Gardot came out with the album "Currency of Man". Here we meet an artist who in no way stands still. The music combines funky bass lines, strong gospel arrangements and a retro soul expression. Gardot has become rougher around the edges and the music has more punch - both live and on record. Melody Gardot is a socially engaged artist with a great voice and strong communication skills.

The Norwegian audience loves her - and in the summer Kongsberg will finally be visited!

“Melody Gardot is about as magical as her name suggests. The lady looks like a million dollars in 1958, and she sounds like a million and a half. At least", wrote Stavanger Aftenblad and rolled the dice 6 the first time she visited the city.

Angelina Jordan is heating up!

Angelina Jordan (10) is a singing sensation like no other, who took the whole of Norway by storm when she appeared at the audition for Norske Talenter 2014. We were just as impressed when she performed on the Barnival scene for the first time in 2014 - now she is back to impress once more us!

Angelina Jordan was only one and a half years old when she discovered YouTube. A few months earlier, she had heard Whitney Houston and she was very happy with the song "I will always love you".

Soon after, we realized that she could find YouTube.com on a laptop, and then she could type in the first four letters of her favorite song. Ever since then, she could sit by herself and listen to her favorite song. After only listening to Whitney Houston at first, she began singing along with her. What we heard and saw was very impressive for a one and a half year old girl. Several months later, she became interested in other types of music.

She started listening to jazz songs by several different artists. First she fell in love with the music of Billy Holiday. She sang along with the artists and eventually wondered if there was a karaoke version of her favorite songs. At weekends, she sang her favorite songs for the whole family.

In 2014, she saw an advertisement for Norske Talenter and would like to sign up as a participant. From the first singing test/audition, it wasn't long before the whole world discovered her and she became famous overnight.

*** IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT TICKETS: There is mainly standing room at the concert, but 150 seats are available on the balcony. Arrive early if you want to be guaranteed a seat!

NB: Angelina Jordan warms up 16:30.

Angelina Jordan

Angelina Jordan was one and a half years old when she discovered YouTube - she had heard Whitney Houston a few months before and she loved the song "I will always love you".

The next thing we learned was that she could type in youtube.com on the laptop, typing the first four letters to find a song. Since then she would sit there listening to her favorite track.

From listening she began to sing along with Whitney. We discovered that she is impressive for her age. Months passed and her interest in music began to expand as she started listening to jazz tracks and old tracks by many artists. From related music videos she found Billy Holiday and fell in love with her. She sang along and after a while she asked if it was possible to have a karaoke version of her favorite songs.

She used her weekends to sing her favorite melodies for the family. In 2014 she saw an advertisement for "Norway's got talent" and wanted so eagerly to apply for that audition. From that audition the path to world wide recognition and fame was very short and suddenly became a reality.
