Megalodon Collective
It must be a particularly good band that both gets nominated for Spellemann for their first record and wins the prestigious jazz intro-the competition. Such a band is Megalodon Collective!
Da Megalodon Collective won Jazzintro in the summer of 2016, the jury stated: "The winner of Jazzintro 2016 appears as a complete band with fantastic instrumentalists. The band has an incredibly refreshing mix between complete anarchy and fine structure. They play super tight and rattled at the same time. It is massive, playful and the improvisational parts have a clear direction". This surplus phenomenon of a band has its origins in the jazz education at NTNU in Trondheim. They have long since conquered the rest of the country and are in the process of establishing themselves internationally. Recently, their second album "Animals" also came out to rave reviews.
It is a pleasure for Kongsberg Jazzfestival to be able to present Megalodon Collective at this year's festival!
