Martin Horntveth: Polaroid
Genre wandering and guilty pleasure. 30 years as a musician in one instant development!
There will be both patterns and contradictions when Martin Horntveth breaks down his musical universe and evokes it together with Norway's hippest band.
Martin Horntveth is known as the drummer in Jaga Jazzist and The National Bank and has written the music for e.g. The TV series Himmelblå, Mammon, Twin and the documentary series Estonia. He has now composed the commissioned work Polaroid, which will be premiered during the Kongsberg Jazz Festival.
The work Polaroid offers snapshots from Martin Horntveth's head and his musical world.
- I am entering a completely unknown musical landscape and I am wearing, among other things, music that I myself have never listened to before, says Martin Horntveth about his commissioned work. It's incredibly exciting to challenge my taste in music as fiercely as I am doing now and I honestly don't quite know where it will end. But the project is driven forward by playfulness, curiosity, genre wandering and a big hint of guilty pleasure. In parts of the music, I have thought that it is permissible to laugh, he says.
We will experience the result in the Kongsberg Musikkteater on Saturday 10 July.
