Marius Neset solo

Marius Neset plays a solo concert at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival!

Concert start: 1400 Single ticket price: NOK 370

Anyone who knows Marius Neset knows that his musical creativity is unparalleled and constantly manifests itself in new artistic achievements. In recent years, Marius Neset has written a lot of music for large ensembles, including for the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta. In 2018, he wrote the work viaduct for the latter, a work that was premiered at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival in connection with his receiving the festival's major musician prize.

Marius Neset has received several awards, including the Spellemannsprisen for jazz in 2014, a prize he has been nominated for three times. He has also been nominated for the EDVARD prize and the Nordic Council's music prize. Plate Snowmelt with music that was written for the London Sinfonietta received both the ECHO Awards (the German Grammy Award) and the Statens Kunstfonds Award in Denmark.

After Marius Neset released his first solo album on ACT in April this year, the reception has been almost panegyric, both from the audience, reviewers and concert organisers. Reviewer Terje Mosnes calls the solo album "New Dawn" a musical revelation, and pays tribute to both Neset's unique technique and musicality.

The music Marius Neset deals with in this project are his own compositions, which he has played with both small and large ensembles, even symphony orchestras. Common to all these compositions was that they started alone with Marius Neset and the saxophone, and nothing else.

According to Marius Neset himself, he has always dreamed of making a solo album, a musical project where he is completely alone with the saxophone and cannot rely on anyone else. Clean and honest.

The feedback from the first solo concerts he has done in connection with this year's record release is rumored to mean that the public can expect a very special experience from a very unique musician.

We look forward to welcoming Marius Neset to the Kongsberg Jazz Festival again!
